Wimp Rock Band Coldplay Accepts Grammy Award For Their Allegedly Purloined Hit "Viva La Vida". Don't They Look Cute In Their Faux Sergeant Pepper outfits?

Former Pop Star Yusef Islam, aka Cat Stevens
I’m sure you recall that pablum rockers Coldplay have been accused of plagiarizing their biggest hit “Viva La Vida” not by one other songwriter, but two. Guitarist Joe Satriani filed a lawsuit and Brooklyn band Creaky Boards also accused the band of stealing their stuff. Well, according to a report in the Brit tabloid The Sun, yet a third person has now accused Coldplay of ripping him off. Yusuf Islam, formerly know as Cat Stevens, claims that “Viva La Vida” is a direct rip off of his 1970′s composition “Foreigner Suite”. You just gotta love this.
So what do you think?

I agree with Michael. As a songwriter myself sometimes you get a tune in your head and write a song according to what your feeling. Then someone says”That reminds me of this other song” I mean cmon of all the songs that have been written over the years your bound to have one sound like another. As long as its not so close you cant deny plagerism let it go. Cant we all just love music and share without wanting to sue evertime someone gets close to what weve done. I say rock on Coldplay.
OK. It’s in the same key. It has similarities. It has similar notes. As any song will have with ANY OTHER song that in the same key. But it’s nowhere near a rip off. Kind of a shock. I respect them both, but it sounds like Cat has his panties in a bunch. Unfortunate. Can’t just let good music be good music.
