Sounds great, no? And looks pretty nice, as you can see from this link to a little photographic tour of the hotel. Now why in God’s name would anyone care about this beautiful hotel in Hong Kong? No one really. Except our man Honest Al Klepshitz who has been holed up there all week, dropping in on this site at least 40 times thus far. And it’s only Thursday.
Welcome back, Honest Al.

Hi Wayne- Are you saying that Qtrax will not launch? Do you think they will not offer the music they are promising? I’m just curious of whether you are attacking the service or the man running the show. And if or when they launch, do you think that the music will work on devices such as the Palm Pre, and other devices? It just seems like you are trying to discredit Klepfisz, which is fine, but I’m wondering what you think about what is currently happening with Qtrax, what has been achieved, versus what you report that he has done to others. Do you think that Qtrax will ever launch a legitimate product or do you just think that they will launch and he will take all of the money and run to Hong Kong?
Hi Elliott. Here’s my opinion. I think that Klepshitz is the kind of guy who, as proven by public record, stiffs people and bounces checks. How in this world could any rational person defend that, let alone make them CEO of a publicly traded company? It just boggles the mind. And instead of lifting the entire industry, it just ends up muddying the water and making it that much more difficult for real innovators to get funding. As far as the service goes, it really doesn’t matter if it launches or not. It’s not going to work in any event. The model sucks. If you look back you’ll see that as soon as Robin Kent came on board with Qtrax the model shifted to the point that it now is a direct copy of SpiralFrog, which of course did not work. And not because SpiralFrog did not have all of the majors signed on. Because the model itself is flawed. I’m somewhat familiar with the assumptions and projections made in the SpiralFrog business model and they are completely unrealistic. Not only that, but SpiralFrog proved that advertisers weren’t getting an ROI. And let’s not forget that the content itself is so constrained by Windows Plays For Sure that you can’t even play it on Microsoft’s own PMD, the Zune!As far as the Pre goes, that doesn’t matter either. I noticed that Palm made a big deal over syncing with iTunes. No mention of synching with Qtrax. They’re a joke. Bottom line: if it doesn’t work with iPod it won’t fly. And do not believe that Qtrax is going to be Apple friendly. It’s impossible.
Great post! I’ll subscribe right now wth my feedreader software!
