Answer:
Answer:
The first single on Apple Records was a special recording by Frank Sinatra singing a medley of "Lady Is A Tramp/But Beautiful" with special lyrics by Sammy Cahn in honor of Ringo Starr's wife Maureen.
The record was made in 1968, for Starr's then-wife Maureen. It was commissioned by Apple Executive Peter Brown. He convinced Sammy to do the rewrite (not that Sammy ever required much convincing for these tasks) and Sammy talked Sinatra into singing it at a special session. Again, this was very rare; Sinatra only did things like this for very close personal friends and/or captains of industry or politics with whom he was involved on some level (most famously, the well-known JFK campaign record of "High Hopes," again with special lyrics by Sammy).
Equally interesting, The Maureen Starkey version of "The Lady Is A Tramp" was pressed as Apple single #1 but only one copy was made, and presumably that's the one that was given to Maureen Starkey (now deceased). The master was supposedly destroyed.
But our Liverpool native found a copy and sent it along. Have a listen.
